Yesterday, a new collection of houseware products made by Sierra Leonen craftspeople and designed by the Icelandic-Swedish-Finnish design team  1+1+1 was launched at DesignMarch, Iceland‘s biggest design festival. The collaboration between the makers and designers is a part of Aurora foundation‘s Sweet Salone project that started in 2017.

The Mengi showroom was packed to the door at the opening, and the products were enthusiastically received by guests and visitors. The cooperation between us, the Icelandic designers and Sierra Leonean artisans, has exceeded our greatest expectations and we look forward to the development of new and exciting products. Already the project has resulted in jobs being created in Sierra Leone, and close-knit ties have been made between a number of designers and artisans in both of Aurora’s operating countries, Sierra Leone and Iceland.
